Welcome to Justice Now AZ. We built this site to bring criminal legal system news together in one place — from Phoenix and Maricopa County, from across Arizona and the Southwest, and from around the country.

Our organization works on prison oversight and on the criminal legal system as a whole: policing, prosecution and the courts, probation, prison, parole, post-conviction release, and reentry. News about these systems is scattered across dozens of outlets. Here, it's organized by level and by section so you can follow what matters.

Why oversight

Systems that hold people in custody or under supervision exercise enormous power. Independent oversight and transparency help the public see how that power is used. That's why our front page leads with Oversight Watch — reporting that points to the need for accountability.
